Las Leñas is a transversal valley located within the mountain
range at an altitude of 2,250 m (7,380 ft). The closest city, Malargue,
is 70 km (44 mi) away, and the border of Chile is 26 km (16mi) away.
From here it is possible to see the Torrecilla, Ponce, El Collar,
and Los Fósiles mountains that surround the ski region.
This center's modern establishments have made this the most complete
ski resort in South America and one of the most significant in the
world. Horseback riding, mountain climbing, and hiking are just
a few of the many diverse activities that you can enjoy while exploring
the region. One of the main destinations is Valle Hermoso (Beautiful
Valley), which boasts a lovely lagoon where one can go kayaking
or windsurfing. There are also trips you can take to a part of the
valley with indigenous petroglyphs and the Larga Lagoon, a sector
rich in high mountain birdlife.

Location
Mendoza Province, Malargue District, 70 km (44 mi) from
Malargue, 200 km (125 mi) from San Rafael, 445 km (278
mi) from Mendoza and 1,180 km (737.5 mi) from Buenos
Aires.
When to go
Year-round. During the winter season it's best to visit
the ski center from June to October.

How to get there
On land: You can get there from Malargue, San Rafael,
Mendoza, and Buenos Aires. By plane: There are flights
that depart from the Jorge Newbury Airpark to the Malargue
Airport, and from there you can find services that go
to the ski center.
Activities
There are a variety of winter time activities such as
skiing, snowboarding, heliski, and sleigh rides. In
the summer, you can try hiking, horseback riding, safaris,
4-wheeling, and mountain climbing, and kayaking and
windsurfing in Valle Hermoso, as well as archeological
trips towards the indigenous petroglyphs.

Las Leñas boasts 29 slopes suitable for all levels, totaling
60 km (37.5 mi), 3,800 hectares (9,120 acres) of skiable surface
area, and a maximum length of 1,230 meters (4,034 ft). The valley
offers 13 lifts, among them a four-seater and 6 double-seaters that
can lift up to 10,000 skiers per hour. Four ski lifts start at the
base: Venus, Eros I, Eros II, and Vesta.
