Esquel and Los Alerces National Park
The city of Esquel situated almost
2 thousand kilometers south of Buenos Aires, it is the principal
urban center of the mountainous zone of the Chubut province and
the starting point to travel through the principal attractions
of the area.
Its imposing natural setting permits you to practice a grand
variety of activities. Amongst the most emphasized winter sports
that you can practice each year and can be carried out in
La Hoya ski center that counts on an
ample skiable surface. It's an impressive natural landmark
with all its related services regarding winter sports.
The Los Alerces
National Parkis found only 28 miles west of Esquel. Its major
attraction is found in the extreme north branch of Lake Menéndez
in the Alerzal (larch woods), where
you'll find exemplary larch trees that surpass 3 thousand years
of age.
Futalaufquén, Menéndez, Rivadavia, Verde, Amutui Quimei and Krügger,
are the main lakes of the park. In some lakes like Futalaufquén
and Menéndez you can take lacustrine excursions to the heart of
the reserve.
