Valle de la Luna and Talampaya
The Ischigualasto Provincial Park
also known as Valle de la Luna (Valley of
the moon) in San Juan and Tampalaya
National Park in La Rioja they can be found right next to
each other.
The remains of vertebrate fossils, traces and remains of dinosaurs,
imprints of ferns and trunks of petrified Araucaria trees. The
trunks is what constitutes them as pale ontological and archeological
rich deposits.
On the other hand the curious geological formations give the
parks there characteristics. They were carved by the wind which
gives it an impression of natural monumental sculptures with a
great similarity of hand sculpted monuments.
The fauna of this place is composed of guanacos (llama guanicoe),
Mara or Patagonian hare, foxes, ferrets and squirrels of
the sierras amongst others.
At the least in Talampaya you can observe multiple petroglyphs
and ceramics of the inhabitants that were there from the beginning
of colonization. This is the subject matter of numerous scientific
studies of investigators from all over the world.
