Argentina : Tours : The Lakes Region

The Lakes Region

The Lakes Region

Season:  Available until April 15th
Duration:  8 days / 7 nights
Price: from US$ 1093

The Lakes region includes beautiful National Parks such as the Nahuel Huapi National Park, and cities like Bariloche. There are extensive virgin forests, lakes of crystalline water and the always white peaks of the Andes Mountains, with exceptionally attractive landscapes like Villa La Angostura, a small and elegant tourist center at the end of the Lake; Los Arrayanes National Park, recently created and dedicated to the protection of exotic arrayan, and the beautiful Victoria Island. Its colors change with the seasons: in winter, the mountains are white for skiing. In spring, the forestes are covered in flowers of different colors for miles. In summer, the lush forests transform into various shades of green. Once fall comes around, the forests seem to be ready to receive winter, making one last show of colors in tones of yellow, orange, and green, contrasting with the Coihue evergreens.

Excursions

Included Excursions

Bariloche
Bariloche is situated in the middle of the Nahuel Huapi Lake and is in the center of the Patagonia Lakes Region. In Bariloche you will notice the strong European influence: the majority of the first settlers came from Switzerland, Germany, and northern Italy. The city has grown expanding to Otto Hill, a large mountainous chain.

Llao Llao Hotel

El Circuito Chico (The Small Circuit)
One of the most popular excursions to do in Bariloche is called the "Circuito Chico": a half day circuit that begins in the city going along the Lake to see spectacular views over the water in the direction of Chile. There are few buildings that can claim a view so marvelous as the Hotel Llao Llao at the end of the Llao Llao Peninsula. From this enormous alpine style hotel we'll continue until Bahía López, a small cove where sometimes Condors can be seen flying around López Hill, which gives shade to the bay. On the return trip, we'll pass by the Campanario Hill chairlift; this, though it is much lower than Otto Hill, incredible views that make the trip worth it.

Villa Traful
This is a picturesque village inside the Nahuel Huapi National Park, on the shores of the Traful Lake. Its constructions, typical of the mountain, are surrounded by large low maintenance gardens and abundant vegetation. Traful's lush watershed is one of the salmon sport fishing centers.

Lakes Crossing Chile - Argentina
In the morning, leave Puerto Varas for Petrohué, going along the Llanquihue Lake. Enter the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, and set sail at Petrohué on the Todos los Santos Lake for Peulla. The trip continues to Puerto Frías where we'll go through the border crossing and continue to Puerto Blest. Here we'll start sailing again on the Nahuel Huapi Lake to Puerto Pañuelos. Once we arrive at Puerto Pañuelos, we'll take a bus for the last stretch to Bariloche. Arrival at night in Bariloche.
